This is the message from a lecture of English for Entrepreneur, Proud Arunrangsiwed. I always came to teach a group of students in Entrepreneur major. They are a group with 13 students. They are responsible and most of them have never missed any class. They have done about 17 assignments which are more than 80 percent of all assignments I planned to let them do. I think that is enough for them, so I told them that I would not give anymore assignment. Why did I have to stop giving them the assignment? The major reason is that we would not be able to meet one another again. The university will be closed until April 30th, which is the end of semester. This is because the government aware of the spreading of COVID-19 or Coronavirus. Another reason that I did not give them anymore assignment is that all of them are adults. These people have full-time job and family. They have a lot of things to worry about. They are unlike the general students in other classes I teach that I still give some more assignment in order to complete the course.

Although I did not give the assignment online, I let them do the final project. This project is to replace the final exam. I had a ton of reasons not to give them the actual online examination. My friend, a guy sitting right next to me in the office, also believes the same thing as me. To provide the online examination could not measure the actual knowledge and skills, because it allows students to cheat in various methods. In fact, I know how to add the exam items into the Moodle package installed in my website within the domain of university. I am not the low-technology person, but I cannot let anyone cheat in my exam. That is the reason why I let my students do the final project instead of the online examination.

Before now, I had told my students that final exam would consist of 50 to 60 items and each of them got 4 choices. I finished creating the exam, but I just kept it. I won’t use it. Now, I will describe what the final project look like. The final project I assigned to my students is that they had to search for speech of leaders, like, presidents, prime minister, or CEO of a big company. Why? These students study in Entrepreneur major and the course description of this class is to let them be able to communicate to their company stakeholders. I think this project is reasonable for them. They have an opportunity to learn the good speech of successful leaders or CEO. When they practice the speaking over and over again they would learn something from it. What they learn is not only the pronunciation, but the rhetorical skills to get into the stakeholders’ mind. That is very important for people who study in Entrepreneur major or dream to be an entrepreneur.
