American Freshman Dormitory : Sw Eden first room

Written by Sw Eden since the first year in the United States. Describe what the bedroom looked like, and the experience through the room. Sw Eden did not explain the roommate-sharing stuff such microwave, television and bathroom. After being the Freshman, Sw Eden moved out to rent his own room, because of the unacceptable behavior of roommate and its friends.

More important to me than any room in the apartment is my own bedroom. it has decorations that reflect my own personality. Walking up to entrance of my bedroom, you will notice that it is very small and cozy.

When you look up to middle of the room, you see a single size bed covered with my micro-fiber blanket. When you take a look at my room, it may seem very messy to you. But someone who is in this room can have lots of sweet dreams. Next to my bed, in the left corner of room, is a small drawer. This is very useful for me; Sw Eden keeps much stuff in it. On the top of drawer, there are some of my drawings for my pleasure before Sw goes to bed. Also there are different types of my roommate’s shampoo. Next to the shampoo, there is my cold body powder which Sw Eden uses in the hot day. Behind the body powder, Sw Eden has a basket of some little personal items, such as, Christmas socks, Knee socks and many Halloween socks.

This shot was taken in the room in Koh Chang Tropicana. We stay there 2-3 nights. I swam in the lovely pool of this resort. The pool is near the beach. I can jump out from the pool and jump down to the sea.

On the bed, there is my black school bag and many papers of homework that seem to show a very natural human character which does pretend to study. On the right side of the room is my desk covered with many writing and painting supplies and a lamp. Besides, there is a wooden snake toy right front of the lamp with my chain. Next to my desk, there are bags full of empty. It means that Sw Eden likes to drink a lot of milk until Sw Eden corrects at least two bags of empty bottles to get some deposits back. Next to the drawer, Sw Eden has a guitar that Sw Eden loves a classical sound when Sw Eden plays it. My window is behind the desk that Sw Eden can look at the sky when Sw Eden studies. There is a beautiful view outside the window although there are three buildings around. The reason that make me feel, they are so beautiful is my roommate that its place are so terrible to see. Anyway, Sw Eden always feels good to have a nice day in this room without this roomate.

Also, Sw Eden wants to tell about the picture which hangs on the middle wall. This is one of my favorite bands, Marilyn Manson. The members from the left to the right hand side are, Twiggy Ramirez (Jeordie Francis White) – ex. bassist, John5 (John Lowery) – ex. guitarist, Marilyn Manson (Brian Warner) – vocalist, leader Ginger Fish (Franklin Kenneth Robert Wilson) – drummer, and Madonna Wayne Gacy. All members take their name from Hollywood women stars and serial murders. Pictures of these people and my own drawings can be a really good friends for me in this lonely room. To feel lonely is always better than to have a noisy roommate. In that case, there is a time to discover the treasures of my bedroom. Every bedroom has its own treasures but not everyone realizes the powers that we hold, the power of relax, and the power of sleep.

Thailand Traditional Love & Sex Culture

Before people get married, they have to learn about each other first and then they can decide that both of them can get along well together or not. Because American was taught to make their own decision when they were young, when they grow up, they are more confident than Thai people who have warm family. Maybe this is the main cause of why Thais and American’s courtship custom are totally different in many different ways such as; how long they adapt themselves, how they show their love and studying about each other background.

Because of Americans’ self-confidence, when they feel that they are ready, they can do everything they want as Americans’ marriage although marriage is the one of most important things in every life. The Americans use not too much time to court; we can see the example in almost all American drama movies that two actors just know each other on that day and they date that day, too. The father and the mother do not worry that their child goes out side at night with his or her lover before marriage. These factors let the time of court to be shorter than Thai people because they feel love faster. After they marry, they always have many problems because they don’t understand something that they have never known before.

Americans do not feel shame when they show their love directly in public areas because most of them came from Europe or they came from many places and don’t have their own tradition. When they desire to do something, they just do it right away, such as, kiss on the street or inside the theater. They can argue out loud and do not care that there are others around them.

For Thailand, before a couple get married, both of them have to learn about each other’s background and have to know his or her parents and both families have to be well compatible. In my opinion, background is very important as income, occupation, race, religion, and character of whole family. Rarely, the rich marry with the poor in Thailand or Indians marry with the Chinese, but all of these, we can see normally in America. This is a situation that amazes me; Sw Eden have heard a story of my teacher’s friend. She comes from Thai and her husband is American. They have child and their family was very happy, but one day her husband’s friend came to her house and courted her. He did so often until she changed her mind and married again, his husband’s friend. In Thailand, the new man should wait until that couple was divorce and court the woman. This means American do not care about background.

Courtship of American is different from Thai’s Courtship, such as, time to decide, background, and status. The ways people associate together depend on many factors but the main point is love. If they love each other, the rest does not matter. Love can lead the way for both of them to get through in everything.

Thailand and Freedom of Speech

The American people would love to see the Freedom of Speech around the world as they have. They blame other countries who do not have it. And right now they blame Thailand of Freedom of Speech about monarchy. Some American friends I have do not really care or love their own country, but they are proud in their American behaviors, until some people are proud to consume too much. Thai culture is really different. They grow up with their parents, and they really look after their parents when they get older. Thai King and Thai Queen are father and mother of all Thai people. Thai people really feel it that way. No one are forced to love them. This is the reason why we cannot let other people blame them.

If you really grow up with a warm family, you will love your parents although they have never asked you to love them. You will do the same thing as we do for our King and our Queen. You will protect them. If some other people disgrace them, you will hire a judge to stop those people. The United States have the law to prevent public insulting, too, and that stops freedom of bad speech. This means we are almost the same. You cannot insult other people with strange Photoshop pictures and unreal words.

Do you know why Thai people love the King?
Thai King, and most of Royal Family have the charity activities nearly everyday. They always go to the far-away towns or villages which are poor. They teach the poor people to work, especially agriculture and handmade products. When any places are destroyed by flood damage and if the government is so slow to help, the Royal Family will help all the people in time.

As the definition of ‘Efficient Economy’ which Thai King always talks about, although the farmer earn a low income, but they can live with happiness. Most of Thai farmers are not that poor until have nothing to eat, but they spend their money without thinking. For example, they want to have cars to show that they are cool; they need to have an i-phone because their friends have it. The farmers who need the extravagant things will not love what the King teach. This is the reason why there are many Red Shirt farmers come to protest in Bangkok.
