Alcest “Lunar Abysses” Live in New York

Sw Eden fascinated with Melodic Death Metal when Sw was in high school and early college time. Sw Eden used to feel that it is the super cool thing to listen to. If I could listen to hard/dark/heavy things, I would be the most excellent listener. I actually liked when the music loud out my brain. I loved to hear the bold guitar solo which did not make me happier, but make me bolder. I loved to scream their way and annoyed all my neighborhood in the dormitory. If they forgot about X Japan (Biography 1, 2, 3), they knew me as the Heavy Metal lover. I was so proud with that.

During the first year in the United States, Sw Eden took an Architecture Design class with my friend, Steven. Every time I talk with him, it will about about melodic death metal. He had promised me the show, so he bought a ticket of a band called, “Alcest”, but I was the one who missed the promise. I bought the ticket already, but I just knew in that morning that I could not go. Steven told me the guitar sounds so awesome, and it was very packed when the band played. He stood in the second row from the front, but his camera did not work.

He got me a Alcest “Lunar Abysses” Over North America Tour T-Shirt which should be $25. He said that it is more than the price of an album and the price of the show. He did not want me to wear it, because of the quality of material. He told me that I should pin it up on the wall, because of its super cool swan-like logo.

Death Metal or Black Metal bands always play the graphic with beautiful curved line and silent/stable dark artwork. Their music videos do not tend to have the story, but just the way they play the instruments. Sw Eden’s favorite type of music video is not both Black Metal style and love story teller. Sw Eden likes the graphic/symbolic one such as the original lineup of Panic! at the Disco and Zi:Kill. The old Panic! at the Disco videos have a lot of things to think and to learn about. The lyrics are really great, too. When their songs combine with their symbolic music videos, they becomes a great piece of artwork.

My Christian Friends

My third visit of New York state was in 2005. I went to a language school, Marymount College of Fordam University at Tarrytown. It is only one month course. I went to a church which was not Christian church with my Korean friends. They wrote a big text, “God is Good and Good is God”. I can remember my dirty thought so well. I listened to many anti-christ and Satanic music at that time, like Black Metal and Marilyn Manson. The words that popped up in my head were, “God eat God” (a song of Marilyn Manson) and “Guns are Good” (a song of Genitorturers). Right now, it is the time to determine, that we should act for love or for hate. Although Marilyn Manson had million reasons to hate his God, he still shew his pessimistic idea. Twiggy Ramirez or Jeordie White also said in the interview of The High End of Low, that the time of anti-christ was when they were so young. The least of all lives, people just want to be happy. The real anti-christ people do things too much serious which are not good for themselves, and the fake anti-christ people did things just for commercial.

I went back to Thailand, and went to New York again in January 2006. I took language and Mathematics classes in that Spring semester. Fiaye, my friend in Math class, became my close so fast. She was very friendly. She searched for a Thai Christian church for me to join. She brought me there about 2-3 weeks, and she had to go back to her church. I studied Bible at Thai church at Yonker about one year. I was not quite nice, because I might betray them. It becomes my pain right now. If I or anyone is not head into any religion, we just should not pretend to take the knowledge from them, and create other things back to them. I did love Satan during that age. I had too much knowledge from Bible, and I read it reverse and translated it to be anti-god subjects. They were posted in my Marilyn Manson Thai Webboard in 2006, and I removed all of them in 2009.

Fiaye gave me an album of Christian songs, and I have still listened to them until now. They are brighter and lighter than Satanism songs. You may have heard Black Metal lyrics or logos. They are so dark actually. I had liked them once at my dark age, but I have changed. You can find a lot of free and legal MP3 to download at SoundClick.com and many kinds of bands are there! They are good examples to describe what the Black Metal religion is.

I know an old woman who joined that Thai church after me. She told her real story that she had a son, and she loved him so much. She sent him to a good school in Australia. She did everything for his future and his happiness. Sadly, her son died. She felt very sorry. She told us that she gave everything for her son, but the only thing that she forgot to give him was the most important thing, that was to let him know Lord God. Her words hit my mind then.

Many people do love God, and have a good wish. My fault was I hated God at that time. 2008-2009, I have realized that I will be happy just when the whole world is happy. Whatever they believe, it is their right, and it makes them nice, and it makes me happy. Christian is not harmful religion, but Satanism might do. I cannot say that what the real Satanism is, because it may be good thing; but in this world, people who worship Satan always believe and they are bad side, and that is the reason that some of them do bad things.

I love to see all religions in the world can be together without any fighting or trying to be better than others. Some country use the religious to make a war, but the real reason is about territory and money.

Some friends in the church said that I would be survival only if I believed in God, and I did not have to be a nice guy. It was the reason that I did not like Christian at that time, too. Nowadays, when I stand above myself at that age, I can remember many good teaching in Bible very well. Christian or Catholic is not only to love God, but you need to be nice, too. At least, you cannot be selfish to your neighbor.

Nothing in the world is solid bad. Everything has a good part in itself, if just you can find it. Today, you can look at your hated friends, they will have many things for you to learn.

Marilyn Manson vs. Hideto Matsumoto

As we know that Marilyn Manson and Hideto Matsumoto were friends. Many Japanese fans know only Marilyn Manson, and they dare to say that they are Metal fans. Although the dress and the look of Marilyn Manson and other spooky kids seems like Gothic or Black Metal stuff, but Marilyn Manson music is not that hard. It is Alternative Rock, as he put on his Myspace. In middle 2009, the Hideto Matsumoto Official Myspace was founded by other people to support X Japan re-union. Although it is so strange when it says “Official”, and Hide is not the one who run it; there are a lot of fans add it to be friend. They just show their love to Hide.

Hideto Matsumoto was in LA, during she did her album with Zilch. She was a friend of Marilyn Manson, Genitorturers, etc. Genitorturers’ music seems so close to Hide’s music. I asked her about Hide, too. Both are pretty. Hide’s music sounds like those alternative rock bands at LA, so it is her good opportunity to go there. Although we call this genes “Alternative Rock”, it sounds different from famous alternative rock bands, such Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte, Cobra Starship, etc. I cannot blame that Hide did suck work if comparing with these famous alternative rock bands, because it is a type of LA things. There are still some songs of Hideto Matsumoto, which are similar with those best alternative rock bands; such as Emotion In Motion, Tell Me, Lemoned I Scream and Honey Blade.

Generally, when we like someone, we will say that other tries to copy him. This may be true or it is just coincident. Or! it is the style of LA people. I am New Yorker anyway, so my answer is not the best of this case of Marilyn Manson and Hideto Matsumoto.

This colorful one, people talked about that they are unreal colors, not the colors of nature; that means it is for anti-christ people. Both Hideto Matsumoto and Marilyn Manson are anti-christ. Hideto Matsumoto did well in symbolism; such as in the song, Ever Free. The name of “Eat Me Drink Me” and “If I was your Vampire” are also really great in symbolism therm, too. In case of “Ever Free”, the meaning is “Eve is Free from Garden of Eden”. The Freedom is much painful.

Hideto Matsumoto liked to play with the words as well as Marilyn Manson showed in the album, “The Golden Age Of Grotesque”.

Hideto Matsumoto tended to love Zi:Kill so much, because of their great job in Alternative Rock/ Punk style; and one of the wording reason is “Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”.
