Review by Sw Eden

Sw Eden enjoyed watching this movie at school theater. Architecture faculty chose this movie to play for their students because its good definition of neighborhood context and conflict. Architects need to concern much about the design which can get along with the tradition and history of racial neighborhood. It is not just a really good plotting of the story which is about neighborhood, this film also shows many different views through many spaces which can drive the audiences feelings into their ways. Moreover Spike Lee use the ‘Mookie’ as the symbol of conflict of whole story which is quite strong and amazing.

This movie describe the movement of people in a district in 100 degree F day. It is quite hot, and people had hot temper, too.

Bethesda Fountain and Double Bass
Most of musicians on the street are black. This shows how the black people love music so much especially hip-hop and jazz

Sal was the pizzeria owner who ran his business in the area of black people for 25 years, and it was the only one left in that area. He did not adapt himself to be like black people, because he was so proud at his spanish family. Moreover he was so proud in his pizza. He believed that most people loved him and his pizza, and there were only a little number of them who hated him. Sal was a strong and solid character who was racialism, too. He did not like loud music of Radio Raheem. In this movie, the director did not put him in the bad side, Sal also tried to buy the photo of Malcolm and Martin Luther King Jr. from a mental disorder guy called, Smiley.

Another side, Buggin Out was also a strong character of racialism. Sal’s pizza is too expensive for him. In my opinion, it was quite expensive, too, $1.5 per slice. This is because there was only one pizzeria in that area. Buggin Out was very angry around other races. When Clifton, a white biker dirted his shoe, he and all the black friends around there crowded on Clifton until he had to get into his house.

The most important and the most conflicted character is Mookie. Mookie was not a nice boy as Sw Eden could see that he used the telephone of the pizzeria he worked as a delivery boy for personal call. He asked for the money before the end working hour, because he did not want to come back after his girlfriend’s order. Mookie was forced by Sal who always blamed him. His own conflict was he was a friend of Vito, a Sal’s son. Vito is a black-like Spanish, but most black people did not feel that way. At the end of the movie, Mookie was the first person who destroy the pizzeria. He did not think about his friendship with Vito, and he forgot all good parts of Sal. Sal had said that Mookie was just like one of his sons, too. Sw Eden has black friends, and most of the male do have the same memory. They can remember the bad things better than the good things, but those things are not violent. I mean if the professor blame their project, they would remember, but if the professor admire their project, they do not think about it so often. This is a good way to study, too, because they will remind themselves not to make a mistake again.

Black Dog does not have to be bad dog. The Good and Evil are not judged by colors, but by behaviors.
VIEW PHOTOs of Black Dog on Flickr

“Do the Right Thing” the name of this movie should define the character of ‘Da Mayor’. As the black teenagers said in the movie, he had a good leadership. He was never angry, and he had belief. He helped a kid who ran after a ice-cream car before getting attacked from another car. He was the only male character who tried to stop Radio Raheem to kill Sal.

This movie also represent an Asian character by Sunny and his family, the owners of Korean’s store. Most people around the world always think that the East Asian people are softer than all races around the world. Sal can create Radio Raheem’s anger, and Sal killed Radio Raheem’s beloved Radio. On the other hand, Radio Raheem was never angry to Sunny, but he laughed at him instead. Sunny’s store might be destroyed if the police came late to catch all the black destroyers.

Ken in the Subway : The Asian is always scared by the black, but the black do not really hate the Asian. They do not have a hard feeling about Racism to the Asian.
View Zi:Kill Gallery on Flickr

Smiley seems to be an additional characters with light rule, but in fact, he was not. He held the images of Malcolm and Martin Luther King Jr. which represented the peace, but he did not love peace. He was one of the three who went to make a trouble with the pizzeria. This mean the people who speak for the peace but do not know how the peace act are mentally disordered.

Sw feels about the racial acts in this movie as the acts of animals. People would follow the one who created the violent without a consideration. This might be good to protect their own friends, but it is not good to hurt other people. To be human, people must not be barbarous. If one side is barbarous and another side is not, then the second one will be destroyed. This is the reason why people keep fighting everyday.

Mixing Blood and Zebra Blood are the seconds artwork which will never be repeated again. This can describe about the movement of multi-races New Yorkers which is called the Melting Pot.
VIEW SW EDEN ART COLLECTION on Flickr

Another thing Sw Eden liked is camera angles. It is just like a good composition photograph, but with the movable images. This might be another reason that NYIT Architecture Faculty chose this movie for their students. The camera angle is really direct to the function of the space, for example, the high-slope camera position on the stairway, the low camera position for Radio Raheem who was very taciturn, the straight angle to Vito and Sunny when they sang hip-hip music.

Quote : (from Wikiquote)
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“Violence as a way of achieving racial justice is both impractical and immoral. It is impractical because it is a descending spiral ending in destruction for all. The old law of an eye for an eye leaves everybody blind. It is immoral because it seeks to humiliate the opponent rather than win his understanding; it seeks to annihilate rather than to convert. Violence is immoral because it thrives on hatred rather than love. It destroys a community and makes brotherhood impossible. It leaves society in monologue rather than dialogue. Violence ends by defeating itself. It creates bitterness in the survivors and brutality in the destroyers.”
Malcolm X :
“I think there are plenty of good people in America, but there are also plenty of bad people in America and the bad ones are the ones who seem to have all the power and be in these positions to block things that you and I need. Because this is the situation, you and I have to preserve the right to do what is necessary to bring an end to that situation, and it doesn’t mean that I advocate violence, but at the same time I am not against using violence in self-defense. I don’t even call it violence when it’s self-defense, I call it intelligence.”

Avenged Sevenfold A7X และเรื่องของพวกเขา

Avenged Sevenfold ก่อตั้งวงเมื่อ 1999 โดย M. Shadow, Zacky และ The Rev พวกเขาเป็นเพื่อนกันในวัยเด็กทั้งหมด ซึ่งใครเป็นเพื่อนใครก็ศึกษาเอาเอง คนลงไปมากมายหลายเว็ป Sw Eden เริ่มชอบวงนี้จากเพลง Seize the Day ซึ่ง สว คิดว่ามันไม่นานเท่าไร แต่ก็ก่อนคนไทยหลายคน

© Sw Eden : All Rights Reserved
The Rev is with a Dinosaur, do you know that?

สำหรับวง Avenged Sevenfold มือกลองของเขา The Rev หรือ The Reverend Tholomew Plague มี Emo haircut ผมทรงอีโม สว อิเฎล ชอบภาพวาดของเขามาก และถูกใช่ใน Myspace นานที่สุดในทุกภาพวาด หากนับ The Rev เป็น 20% ของสมาชิกในวงที่มีผมทรง Emo ซึ่งจำนวนเพลงของ Avenged Sevenfold ก็มีส่วนที่เป็นแนว Emo อยู่ 20% เช่นกัน ตัวอย่างเพลง Emo ขิงวงนี้คือเพลงช้า และเพลงที่ใช้ลากเสียงทั้งหลาย แต่ส่วนใหญ่แล้ว Avenged Sevenfold ก็ยังคงความเป็น Melodic Metal อยู่

Alice Copper

Mr. Jones the Movie Review

Year: 1993
Director: Mike Figgis
Actors: Richard Gere, Lena Olin

In my real life, I like Lena Olin better than Richard Gere; but in this paper, I wrote about how Dr. Elizabeth should not be the doctor.

______________________________

According to the movie of Mr. Jones, I would like to mention about Dr. Elizabeth Bowen who made a lot of mistake silly. Although she was a nice woman, she was not a really good psychologist. First, she should not make too much relationship with some mad guy as Mr. Jones. For example, she let him to be in her car very easily and brought him to lunch and to his home. She should not rely on this guy because he just made her shameful in the law court, and she was also angry. After that, when Mr. Jones became one of her clients, she also took care Mr. Jones much more than for other clients who also needed her time and her care, too. She should not find information about Mr. Jones’ ex-girlfriend and tell him because that made the situation much worse than before. This was a silly thing; too, because she did not know if she told him about his ex-girlfriend who he believed that she was already dead, the mad guy as Mr. Jones would never listen to her and got angry very easily.

In fact, if Mr. Jones was real bi-polar person, he should not come to this hospital. If considering about his emotions, I think he felt better when he was outside, and he looked so sad when he was in the hospital. It means this hospital made him much worse than he had been, or he was a patient or Dr. Elizabeth, and she could not help him to be better. I think when they fell in love in each other, which was wrong in moral. There was no reason that person as Dr. Elizabeth could fall in love in this bi-polar man. She is not so clever and she had never thought before doing anything. When she resigned from the hospital, it seemed like she did the right thing, but for me, she was wrong. Many clients in that hospital need her help. And, also after she know that she had done something wrong with a suicide client, she would have experience and would never do it again. After she resigned, she went to help Mr. Jones, and that was also not clever thing to do. They should not be together as lovers. Dr. Elizabeth is a normal and not bad woman, but she chose to be with Mr. Jones who was really abnormal. She did not think about after she was his wife and what will happen next. Mr. Jones might change emotion and hit her someday.

There was another thing that also showed that she was not a good therapist. When she met a black guy who complained about a woman who did not come to see him, she got hurt. That was because she was a bad psychologist; she could not know how to talk with this kind of client. On other hand, Mr. Jones who was abnormal could know how to treat this black guy with out any hurt, and then, this black guy release Dr. Elizabeth.

For my opinion about whole movie, I totally cannot believe that this situation can be real. Mr. Jones might be just a excellent guy who pretended to be abnormal and made his life very happy by spending all money with in one day. Then, he could make Dr. Elizabeth fall in love in him, and if he got her, he did not have to work anymore because she could look after him for whole life.

Jane Hirshfeild beautiful poetry

Jane Hirshfeild is a strange poet of those who are praised to be the best. Her poetry is just simply perfect, and that makes a big different from other great poets. Almost poets make their poems to be interesting by the complexity. I wrote in one of my poems that Tadao Ando, a Japanese architect has a simple geometric form, and all are perfect. Another guy I wrote about is Antoni Gaudi who make weird shape and form on his architecture. Both are right and interesting. In my opinion, it is harder to make a simple form or a simple story to be interesting. And Jane Hirshfeild can do what many talented people cannot do.

Jane Hirshfeild was born in New York City . She should have grown up with a complex life. Although she had had that life before, she does not have to put all her experience into the poem as almost regular artists do. She makes her poem easy to understand for everybody in every age and everywhere. This seems like she has high graphic skill on her poem. Graphic is something for many people to understand in the same way. Mostly it is on picture or symbol, and right here, she has it on her poem. She has the best way to communicate. She does not just communicate by her story or her feeling. All she did is for teaching. She created a big lesson which is not too much serious as in the religion book. She entertains people with the rhythm of poem and she tells Buddhism teaching at the same time.

Simple format and good-communication language of Jane Hirshfeild’s poetry make people believe in her words easily. She is both nice and excellent in this way. Her teaching is always help the world, by its idea and the way to think about the life. Her poetry gives new hopes for people. Her poetry is friend for the lonely. All her poems are optimistic stories which are based on truth.

One of her poem which can help people who are confused very well is, “Poem With Two Ending”. This poem talks about the living and the death. And that is true as the name of it, that is both are the ending of each other. This will remind most people who heard of a Greenday song, “Closing Time” about a sentense that is, “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” Jane Hirshfeild begins “Poem With Two Ending” with the truth to make her poem to be much strong for lost-hope people to believe in. If I were those people, she could describe my feeling at that moment really well. She does not just say the exact word of those feelings, but she used scenes to represent them. She wrote, “Say, ‘death’ and the whole room freezes (1), even the couches stop moving (2)”. There is not only the really situation she gave, she also has an easy example which everyone can imagine with. The easy example can make her poem to be really solid and much more powerful. She has it in this poem, that is, “Like a squirrel suddenly aware it is being looked at”. This is totally true. Almost photographer got a great shot of squirrels, because they got stuck when they feel the camera looking at them. She gave more examples in following line until she felt that they are enough, and after that it is her time to teach. The last example seems to be strongest one in my sight. She wrote, “A shopping mall swirls around the corpse of a beetle (11)”. This really shows all meanings of the death. Shopping mall is so big, and a beetle is so small and round. This bug has no direction around four walls. The bug is just like a dust in the universe and no one look at it. People can also step on it. The bug is alone. No one cares about it. At the end, nothing of it leave for, or relate, to all things around. Although her poems is fine and soft, she has a really confident part in this poem that is, “Death is voracious, it swallows all the living (12). Life is voracious, it swallows all the dead (13).” That means both cannot be together, but they can destroy each other. If a person still worry about the death, he will never feel that everything and himself are alive. This is as same as the beginning of the poem, that everything in the room is stopped. On the other hand, if this person is conscious that he is still alive, he will keep his life going and he will never feel the death. The last line of this poem which stand alone says, “The grip of life is as strong as the grip of death”. My understading of this sentense is if people no need to be afraid of the death, and the dead no need to afraid to be in the world, because of both are really strong, and by this strength, they cannot change each other to be in another way. In this poem, Jane Hirshfeild has both great line up with the useful example, nice teaching and great conclusion. This means not only her poem which is calm, because she is also calm when she wrote it, too.

People who were born Buddhist have never been as the excellent people who turn themselves to be Buddhist by their own majority. Buddhism has much more freedom than all other religions. Buddhists do not need to believe in one religion, if other religion teachs people to be nice. Jane Hirshfeild’s poetry does not compress the reader to be Buddhist, but it can persuade by its meaning without any words to persuade as in regular Christian or Satanic songs. In another word is she directs people to look at the world positively, although they do not have to, they will think follow her words. Jane Hirshfeild has a pure Buddhist poem that is, “A Hand”. Surrealistic artists look at the world in different ways from other people, and Jane Hirshfeild and other real Buddists look at everything as nothing.

When Thai students open Buddhist books, they are bored to read about something as everything is just like nothing. Jane Hirshfeild has a good example for them. She picked the nearest example which all readers, except a deformed man, can just look at their own hands and go along with her poem. She describes the hand, that it is not everything that regular people can see or read from. It is not the way surrealistic artists do, too. She said the hand is not what it looks like and not its functions. At the end, the poem says, “Unanswerable, humming like bees, it rises, swarms, departs (18).” To rise, to swarm and to depart all are about the reality of human life. The hand is an important part of human. They are about the same idea in her poem. Everything was born, and it has to has its own responsibility, and then it goes. This meaning does not make people to be depressed or hopeless, but this is thoughtful and cheerful. If people consider about this poem, they will be able to begin their new day so well, because they know that one day they will depart, so they do not need to stick with any shape or form or how rich, how poor they are. If the thing is nothing, to have and to not have are the same. Then, people can give or do charity without thrift. There is only goodness and badness which can be left in the world. In fact, goodness and badness are equally as death and life. We will never know which one is which one if there is no another one. If there is not darkness, we will not know what the brightness is.

The Buddists always give the lotuses to the monks or to the temple. They do as a tradition. In fact, the flower is symbol for monk, and people can give any kinds of flowers to the monk. Monks are from various kinds of people with various of status. There is no classes or levels after their ordination. Every monk respects each other. By this Buddhist symbol, I really admire how Jane Hirshfeild compare people as the gems in “Poem Holding Its heart in One Fist”. That is all difference of people are just like all difference meaning of each gem in the world. This difference of people also reminds me about another poem of her, “the Weighing” which describe about the different life in different season of a lion. That is no one can be strong at all time, because everything has to be balance. The last paragraph of “the Weighing” seems like she compares that the lion also has to give the strength to the nature in the drought time. And this also related to “A Hand” which I mentioned that people cannot stay in the same way until the end of the world.

Jane Hirshfeild has very various examples to teach different lessons, and all are also nice things and all things are also related to each other. This poet really has strong idea in her mind, and she is so excellent to spread that idea out to many different ways. How plain and how true her words are, they have never disturb how interesting of her poetry. Her poetry is all fact and truly friendly, and I believe that it can teach people not only every age, but also in every era.

Quruli くるり

Quruli

I looked for this band for half year, after I knew their music video from Japanese airplane. It is art without any violence. And they did same kind of my stuff. I like them. I searched for, “Kururi”, and I could not find any. That was wrong word. Till I had no attempt to search.

I looked for Ken Zi:Kill solo stuff in Victor Entertainment or Speedstar Records. I could not find Ken, but I saw Quruli. Oh! man, Thank Ken. Right now, I can find their information so easy in search engine. This company has cool stuff. haha

I got a Nikki CD/DVD from a small music store near my place. Such a cozy one. Such a cozy album. I enjoy watching their music video. Put music into mp3 player. Listen in subway. Do not have to think that much. Easy simple music through my hear. Easy track go through New York City. Easy smile with sincerity. That’s right.

The classes in the store. A little bit lower grade than Zi:Kill, but better than plenty of wellknown artist in that full shelf. I had done that. Their music video. We had been same kind of people. I think I got changed once, after coming to New York City. I saw the past of myself in Quruli stuff. How don’t I love them? Ken Zi:Kill and all those Alternative Punk Rock. Quruli. You make me smile at once when I am in the dark part of my life. I became Satanic when I had been in New York City. Nice, but I feel “Not Fair!”. That is Satanic. I do not want to be with it anymore. And I know, I know it’s not your time but bye, bye.

I dream to the day without any task. I walk in the endless park. Let the music change the nature in every second, and nature becomes artwork as it has never been before. During this temporary happiness. I miss you, Thailand.

#X Khin Nanta
She was a Myanmar Queen around 500 years ago. My drawing is her ideal persona of my view. She was more bold and sexy than in the history book. I wrote the biography of Tabinshwehti the 2nd king of Myanmar who was her husband. I began to write it as poetry when I was 7 grade student or around 10 years old, and I finished it in the following year. All are about fun things in palace and fun things in wars. Just in the last part of the poem that Tabinshwehti got killed, that is the sad part that I cried for when I wrote. I also composed 3-4 songs about this stories. They have been my favorite until now.
